Gear Shift Cable - Column: Removal
- Place vehicle in park, and turn ignition key to the "LOCK" position. See Fig 1.
- Remove under panel silencer/duct assembly. See Fig 2.
- Remove column cover screws. See Fig 3.
- Tilt column down and remove upper half of column cover. See Fig 4.
- Tilt the column to the uppermost position and remove the tilt lever. See Fig 5.
- Remove the ignition key and remove lower column cover. See Fig 6.
- Remove cable from shift pin. See Fig 7.
- Remove cable retainer clip from shift cable conduit bracket. See Fig 7.CAUTION: Column must be tilted fully upward to remove cable retainer clip.
- Raise hood. From inside the engine compartment, remove the gear shift cable from the cable bracket. See Fig 8.
- Unseat the cable grommet from the firewall and pull the shift cable from the interior of the vehicle. See Figure.
- Raise vehicle on hoist and unbolt fill tube bracket. Rotate fill tube to gain access to the integrated shift cable clamp.
- Disconnect cable from routing bracket as shown in Fig 9.
- Remove shift cable retaining nut and slide cable assembly off of mounting stud. See Figure.
- Disconnect shifter cable from shift lever assembly at transaxle. See Figure.
- Remove cable from vehicle.
