Chime Test 4B - Repairing Shorted Key-In Ignition Switch

NOTE: Perform CHIME TEST 4A  before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Fig 1 . Using scan tool, select CHIME MONITOR. Read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 24-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. Remove ignition key. Turn all lights and accessories off. Close all doors. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, probe BCM Black 24-pin connector terminal No. 14 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 10 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire.
