Windshield Wiper Test 3A - Repairing Shorted Intermittent Wiper Relay Circuit
NOTE:
Perform POWER WINDOW TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM. See WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM
article. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Remove intermittent wiper relay. Wiper relay is located in power distribution center. Power distribution center is located in engine compartment. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between wiper relay terminals No. 85 and 86. See Figure under ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM TEST 4A. If resistance is not 65-85 ohms, replace wiper relay. If resistance is 65-85 ohms, go to next step.
- Using a voltmeter, check voltage between wiper relay connector terminal No. 85 (Yellow/Light Green wire) and ground. If voltage is less than one volt, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If voltage is one volt or more, repair short in Yellow/Light Green wire.
