Washer Inoperative
- Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 29 (10-amp) from junction block. See Figure. If fuse is okay, reinstall and go to next step. If fuse is blown, check for short to ground between right multifunction switch and junction block or within junction block circuit. repair as necessary. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect right multifunction switch connector. See Figure. Check for poor connections. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between right multifunction switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Pink wire) and ground. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Brown/Pink wire between right multifunction switch and junction block. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure washer switch is off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between right multifunction switch terminals No. 1 and 3 (switch side). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace right multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove liftgate trim panel. Disconnect washer pump connector. See Figure. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 2 (Brown wire). See Figure. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and washer motor connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire between washer motor and ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between right multifunction switch terminals No. 1 and 3 (switch side). Pull washer switch to activate washers. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater when washer switch is activated, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms when washer switch is activated, replace right multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected components. Ensure wipers operate in low position. If wipers do not operate in low position, go to WIPER INOPERATIVE IN LOW SPEED . If wipers operate in low speed, turn ignition off and disconnect BCM connector C2. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between BCM connector C2 terminal No. 2 (Brown wire) and ground. Pull washer switch to activate washers. If voltage is greater than 10 volts when washer switch is activated, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts when washer switch is activated, repair open in Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect washer switch connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between washer switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown wire) and ground. Pull washer switch to activate washers. If test light comes on when washer switch is activated, replace washer pump motor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If test light does not come on when washer switch is activated, repair open in Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
