Scan Tool Method

  1. Perform pretest inspection. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If pretest inspection procedure has been performed, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. If scan tool display is blank, see SCAN TOOL BLANK SCREEN  under COMMUNICATIONS under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool display is not blank, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, select SYSTEM MONITORS, then CCD BUS TEST. Scan tool will perform a CCD bus test. If scan tool does not display BUS OPERATIONAL, see appropriate test under COMMUNICATIONS  under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, select READ DTCs. If any DTCs exist, perform corresponding DTC test(s) under SYSTEM TESTS  . See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table. If no DTCs exist, repair by performing appropriate symptom test(s) under SYSTEM TESTS  . See SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION  table.

(2) Perform corresponding test(s) under SYSTEM TESTS  .
